Children in the church

Children

Children of every age are always welcome in church.

Every Sunday at 09:30 am there is something going on for children run by Teresa, our children’s worker. See the calendar for what’s on each week.

In church there are Activity Bags which you can pick up as you come in, wide spaces for pushchairs to be in the middle of the church and boxes of toys for the smallest members of the church family.

Young children are naturally noisy, active and inquisitive: it is fine for them to be themselves in church.

Little Fishes

Our Little Fishes Sunday School is a fun and safe learning environment for children held as part of the Sunday service. Sessions include art and craft activities, games & quizzes all centered on the theme for that particular Sunday.

We start by joining in the main service in Church then move down to The Mews (with any parents / guardians who wish to come) and return to church just before communion.

Story Telling Service

Our Story Telling Service is held in the Mews and is perfect for families with young children. The service includes a Bible story, songs, simple prayers and a craft. It is about 30 minutes long and is followed by refreshments.

It is held on the 1st Sunday of the month when there isn’t a Family service in church and also on the 3rd Sunday of the month.

Family Service

Our Family Service is designed for everyone. It is short, interactive and accessible. Children, often from Whitegate School, play important roles during the service helping with readings, prayers etc.

As with all our morning services, it is followed by refreshments in The Mews.

Whitegate Church of England Primary School

We have a strong relationship with Whitegate School which is situated next to the church.

Our Children’s Worker and volunteers provide an After School club once a week, help run the school’s Ethos Group and hold a ‘Here to Listen’ session for pupils as well as being involved with Collective Worship and governance.

School holds a service in church once a month and at other special times.
