All adults are welcome to come to Crafty Coffee meetings to do your own craft or just to have a chat. We meet in The Mews every Wednesday 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM for friendship, tea, coffee and biscuits. Occasional outings are also arranged.
We meet once a month at Tarporley Garden Centre for fellowship and chat. Anyone is welcome whether or not you attend church or live in the parish.
First Thursday Café is very popular with the mainly retired people who attend, although anyone from the community is welcome. We have a list of eager cake makers and there are usually about 5 tasty cakes per session to choose from to enjoy with a chat over a cup of tea or coffee.
The café was originally started to help with social isolation caused by the pandemic and has now become a regular social fixture for many.
It is always held on the First Thursday of each month for ease of remembering.
Tune ringing on handbells is a lot of fun and very sociable. Would you like to learn?
We meet weekly on Wednesdays, from 4:00 – 5:00 PM in The Mews, Church Green, Whitegate. Come and have a go. No experience necessary and don’t worry if you don’t read music. You only need to count.
St Mary’s Singers is an occasional choir which is targeted at all friends of St Mary’s Church, be they part of the regular congregation or beyond. It offers the opportunity for anyone to come and sing alongside the regular church choir and prepare special music at various times during the year.
The choir meets typically in December, to prepare music for the church’s Service of Nine Lessons and Carols and a Christmas Concert at Vale Royal Abbey. It also prepares music for a special event on the evening of Palm Sunday, and a Choral Evensong towards the end of the Summer Term.
Mothers’ Union is a worldwide Christian movement which aims to give practical support for family life.
We meet monthly, usually in The Mews, alternating between afternoon meetings starting at 2:00 PM and evening ones, which begin at 7:30 PM. Our members pool ideas for our yearly programme and we aim for a varied mix of meetings.
We support Mothers’ Union charities by holding fund raising events and we support each other and our parish in any way we can. Visitors and new members are always welcome.
Check the calendar to find information about our next meeting.
Come and join our friendly group on our monthly walk discovering the beautiful countryside around the village of Whitegate.
We meet once a month between April and October usually on a Thursday. You can find the details of the next walk through the website calendar and in the church newsletter.
Our leisurely walks are chosen to be fairly easy and usually under 2 hours in length. Be ready for mud!
You may like to bring a drink and a snack to enjoy at the end of the walk. We welcome well behaved dogs who can be kept under control all the times.
You can let us know you are coming by texting or phoning or you can just turn up on the day.
With our overhead projector, drop-down screen and comfy black chairs, The Mews makes a super mini cinema.
Screenings take place every two months – not the very latest films for you can catch those at cinemas everywhere, but classics old and new that you might have missed, or would love to see again.
In the winter months the films are on a Sunday afternoon, 2.00 for 2.30pm, and in June and August on a Wednesday evening, 6.30 for 7.00pm start.
Films are sub-titled for the hard of hearing.
We suggest a donation of £5 per person, to cover refreshments and help support the upkeep of The Mews.
Everyone is welcome. Check the website, the Monthly NEWS and notice boards for dates of forthcoming screenings.
