Volunteering

There are many volunteers who help enrich the life of the church and the local community and their contribution is vital. Some tasks are done by individuals, others as a group. Joining a group is a great way to contribute and to make new friends at the same time.

You can help by cleaning the church or decorating it with flowers, welcoming people in, reading or ringing the bells, singing with the choir, baking cakes, serving coffee or joining the social committee. A couple of times a year there are work parties to tidy and maintain the churchyard and grounds and to spring clean the church and Mews. You can have your say in how the church is run by joining the PCC (Parochial Church Council).

Whitehead Fields

The Whitehead Field planting project is being managed by the Fabric committee with the aim of the enhancing this four-acre site behind the church, which includes the new graveyard. Some money has been kindly donated for the work.

A group of volunteers from the Church, the village and children from Whitegate School have come together, and more volunteers are always needed and welcome to join in. Work has started already to clear undergrowth and our local countryside ranger has led a group who have layered the hedge around part of the field.

Amongst other planting, we are hoping to have fruit trees for blossom in spring and fruit at harvest.
